Kentucky Derby Party
In 2016 and 2017 S.A.F.E. has its Kentucky Derby Party. We celebrated the “fastest two minutes in sports” with food, live entertainment, silent auction, raffles, cash bar, and watching the Kentucky Derby Race.
The Butterfly House Child Advocacy Center loves to take part in the Sorghum Festival each year and offer crafts for kids. Last year Katie and Sharon did hand and footprint paintings and hair wraps for the local youth.
Kids’ Fishing Derby
This year S.A.F.E. had a fishing derby for kids at Nottely Marina. Kids brought their poles and had a blast fishing off of the coast at the marina. There was food, drinks, and prizes as well as games.
S.A.F.E.’s Sail into Summer Sunset Cruise
This year S.A.F.E. partnered with Nottely Marina to do a sunset cruise. Community members jumped on six of Nottely’s boats and toured the lake while eating delicious food from The View Grill.
Zaxby’s Night for S.A.F.E.
Regularly Zaxby’s hosts a night for S.A.F.E. to raise funds for our programs. We do children’s activities and provide literature to anyone interested.
Chic Fil A Spirit Night
Chic Fil A often allows S.A.F.E. to raise funds by having a spirit night. Students from Young Harris College come to help and do fun projects for kids. This year we created a tree of hands made by local children and face painting. We love getting to interact with our local youth!
Pro Wrestling Event
Georgia Premier Wrestling puts on wrestling fundraisers on behalf of S.A.F.E. Families and kids enjoy watching the wrestling show and the perks of meeting the wrestlers, wearing masks, and eating the food. Georgia Premier really focuses on making it enjoyable for the kids.
Butternut Creek Festival
Each summer Blairsville has its Butternut Creek Festival and the Butterfly House Child Advocacy Center has a booth for children’s activities.
In 2016 S.A.F.E. did a haunted Zombie Walk trail. Volunteers dressed up as zombies and hid amongst the trail to scare those who dared to walk it. S.A.F.E. also provided Halloween treats and scary movies throughout the night.
For several year S.A.F.E. had an annual Poker Run. Motorcycle riders from all over would join us to ride through the North Georgia Mountains, have a meal with the S.A.F.E. staff, and take part in our raffles.
